A Game of Sorts

Name the type of car and describe the driver of the person with the personalize plate of LADYZMN. You win and I'll send you your favorite type of cookies. I'll post the answer tomorrow sometime. Have fun!

Quote of the Day

Too many of us are hung up on what we don't have, can't have or won't ever have. We spend too much energy being down, when we could use that same energy-if not less of it-doing, or at least trying to do, some of the things we really want to do.
-Terry McMillan

Remodel a WIP

Sometimes I forget that I work in a really cool place. I am wondering around the newly ( and almost finished) remodeled office. I think it is easy to forget that they do a lot to keep us happy, that is above and beyond. We now have a very cool soda cooler, think the ones you see in convenience stores but the soda and juices are free. They setup a couple rooms with recliners in them that are wellness rooms where you can sign up for a time frame and take a nap. I haven't seen all the changes and things yet but I am really impressed.

Now this made me laugh. This is our QA lab but it isn't quite ready yet.
In case you can't tell from the picture that is CAT5 cable which is strung down from a central beam so no tripping on wires. To me it looks like a lynching.

Relief

The biopsy came back negative. No cancer.

I Should Have Been Clearer in my Demands

I told a friend tonight that I was wishing it would rain and that I would go outside and play in it. What I neglected to mention is that I would only play if it wasn't lightning out. Instead I stood under the balcony and just smelled the earth and air mixed together. It isn't the same as Good Ol' South Dakota but it was nice. I love the smell before the rain and as it is raining, if only everything in life were so simple.

Rewarding the Indecisive

We are moving to our newly remodeled space soon, and as part of this we got new chairs. An email was sent asking people for their preferences. I thought both were comfy so I didn't respond to her with my preference. Today she was handing out new chairs and well as one of the people who couldn't decide I got to use both at my desk and then make a decision. It was pretty cool.

Monday Already?

I spent most of Friday freaking out, and getting information from my sister, which is a lot like trusting the Daily Show to give you all the news on what happened for the day. Mom is home and apparently already in less pain, as I guess part of the issue was she had a couple female organs attach themselves to her kidneys. Not sure when the biopsy will truly be back but it will be a bit anxious until then.
So I'll still be quiet this week likely. Hope everyone is having a better week than I am. Ok so maybe Randy isn't, but I am trying hard to remember to think happy thoughs for him.

Update

Mom is out of surgery and they are saying things went well.

I Lack Focus

First it is Friday, and the last couple nights have been crap for sleep. Mom is in the hospital in surgery right now and I won't likely hear anything for hours. I seem to be the center of hurricane without really having been warned of its arrival. So if you bump into me and say hi and I suddenly burst into tears, please don't be offended.
I have so much work to get done and I can't seem to even think about any of it. Today would be one of those rare days where it would be better to get paid for active work than for brain power.

More Awake Then Some

I had a horrible night of attempted sleep last night. I am somewhat a morning person, and not getting much sleep tends to darken the day and morning. I did however manage to put my shirt on right side out. A coworker did not manage that same feat today. I couldn't help it I laughed. She had been at work two hours and was wondering why people were giggling.

Kharma Balancing

I believe generally in my life for every unexpected good thing there is an unexpected bad that follows it up. There have been quite a number of 'good' things happen this week and last night I found out what the bad is.  I might be pretty quiet for the next week or so. I am deciding how to get back to SD next week to be with my family. My mother will be having surgery next Friday.

The Universe is Laughing at Me

Lunch today was amusing. I went with a single girl who then told me I should start dating and told me exactly who at the company she thought I should date. I get back from lunch and get a reminder about a meeting for the new committee I am on. Yes you see where this is going right? The gentleman she has decided I should date sits in the chair next to me.
I am trying to see how far I can push my luck and see if one can get kicked off the committee. We discussed the company picnic and I have been put in charge of adult activities for said picnic. No, you don't see where this is going - a bunch of pervs you are. I suggested a dunking booth where all senior managers have to sit for 15 minutes on the day of the picnic. Well I said senior management and the idea was expanded as I watched, to include anyone who managed people. I laughed as it was clear who was a manager in the room and who wasn't. I was a bit worried when I got back to my desk and 15 minutes later my manager asked if I was going to be working next week.

Spring is Everywhere

Today is one of those days where I have an idea in my head and I didn't think there was any talking myself out of it. I want to go rollerblading. This is a strange thing because I likely haven't had them on in a good couple years. I am also not thinking of any good place that is more flat than not. I miss the old townhouse at times as there was a fantastic trail behind it which was awesome for rollerblading.
So here's my question - anyone else in Colorado interesting in rollerblading sometime or know of a good park? I just remembered I have to go to the doctor for my foot tonight so well hell.

It might be an OK day after all

I must run to the casa tonight and check the mail. Apparently there is a pseudo bonus from work (this NEVER happens!!) in the form of stock options! I have to figure out which way to go with them before June 1st.
And before anyone laughs at me the pregnant lady at work has decided we are going on a Taco John's run for lunch. This wouldn't be a big deal in the Midwest as you can't drive past a middle sized city without hitting one, but in Colorado they are almost extinct. I believe there are 2 in the city and we are going on a road trip to one of them today.

Back but Blah

I am as most people know an extrovert, and well I like having people around so I am a bit depressed so bare with me. I love having people out to visit and usually hate to see them go. Everyone has been asking what I did, and if I had fun this past weekend. Yes the weekend was very fun. Thursday there was shopping, and going to the arcade. Then we drove up into the mountains, and swam in the hot mineral springs pool. Friday was the museum of Natural Science, planetarium and the Body World exhibit. Saturday was the party at the consortium and Sunday was CoV at the consortium.

In Time Out

I am in time out for a bit. Ok really, most people call it a vacation but I am calling it a time out. I am not going anywhere this time, but instead having company so posting will likely not happen again until Monday. Hope everyone has a great weekend!

I have not been violent enough

In the last week or so I have had at least 3 people come up behind me and unexpectedly touch me. Now it's becoming a habit that I must break. The last one almost got thwacked, as we had just been having a spider conversation and he thought this was screaming funny to come up and do spider movements on my shoulder. He got out of the way quick - spry for an older guy.
