Question

Someone said this to me today - True or False?
People love you or they hate you.  No one is ever indifferent.

I don't think that's true.

Though indifference is far worse than hatred.

I think that -- wait, are we talking about -you- or people in general? Because the answer is different, depending.

Eh. Answering anyway.

I think if you're just talking about people in general, you can meet someone and just be indifferent to them.

I think if we're talking about you, I would say 'true' (full disclaimer: I was the one who made the observation to begin with): I think you have the kind of personality that people respond to -- good or bad -- no matter what.

I've never met anyone who just thinks "jackie? meh." :)

Second qualifier:

I think that's a good thing.

To love or to hate is still to be passionate about a thing, indifference is a crueler fate by far.

I related some of this thread to Lee. He said, "I don't either love or hate Jackie." I said, "But are you indifferent to her?" He said, "...No." I said, "Can I post that on her blog?" He said, "I can always deny it later."

I think you make me laugh. Not because you're always funny or because you're ridiculous. I just tend to laugh.

In the generic, I definitely disagree. There are lots of people I don't grant the time or energy to love or hate. But even in the specific, that sort of comment makes everything very black and white, and I believe the world is full of many more grays. Or greys. Your choice.

And I agree with Doyce. i think that's a good thing.
