I'm sorry, sweetie -- but it's your pride, and I think the world of you for it. Proud enough to put yourself through grad school; proud enough to let go when you shouldn't stay.
I wish I could say I was proud enough to let him go, but it would be a lie.
I'm sorry to hear the second, wish you luck with the first.
Happiness shouldn't be a zero-sum game.
